Altitude IT — Independent Technology Review
Stop Buying IT. Start Planning It.
The Altitude Technology Roadmap is a fixed-price, independent review for small and medium-sized businesses. It connects technology decisions to business outcomes, risk, costs and growth plans, then provides a prioritised 12–24 month roadmap.
Advice before products. Roadmap before projects. Outcomes before technology.

AI readiness and governance
The Roadmap includes a proportionate AI estate review as part of the wider technology picture: current tools and shadow AI, data exposure, approved versus personal accounts, Microsoft 365 and Copilot readiness, acceptable use, identity, device controls, licensing, staff literacy and ownership.
- AI tools, teams and shadow AI
- Public versus approved business accounts and data handling
- Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Copilot readiness
- Overlapping or unused AI subscriptions
- Ownership, guidance and basic governance
Where AI is already appropriate and controlled, the recommendation may be MONITOR or NO ACTION REQUIRED. The Roadmap does not replace detailed AI discovery, adoption planning or implementation.
Relevant considerations may include UK GDPR and ICO guidance, contractual or customer obligations, cyber-insurance questions, applicable EU AI Act considerations and recognised frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001. ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems; Altitude IT does not certify organisations against it.
A structured AI system impact assessment may be useful for a higher-impact deployment. That is normally a route into specialist AI work rather than a standard Health Check deliverable.
Cyber Essentials is a cyber-security baseline, not AI governance. Zero Trust can protect users, identities, devices and data, but does not control third-party AI platforms by itself.
Where a business has EU-facing activity, the EU AI Act may add operational responsibilities. The Roadmap can flag relevant ownership and control questions, but it is not legal advice. For plain-English operational context, read The EU AI Act Is Now Being Enforced — Does Your Business Know What AI It Is Using? from The IT Club Briefing. For the current framework and timeline, check the European Commission’s AI Act framework.
Altitude IT provides technology, security and governance-readiness advice. We do not provide legal advice or regulatory certification. Where formal legal interpretation, certification or specialist regulatory advice is required, appropriate professional advice should be obtained.
Where deeper AI discovery, adoption, governance or implementation is justified, see Altitude AI.
Technology Health Check — £295 + VAT

Is Cyber Essentials an AI governance framework?
No. It is a practical cyber-security baseline that can support safer AI use, but it does not replace an AI governance programme.
What is the Technology Health Check?
